Most leadership problems aren’t caused by lack of effort or intelligence.

They’re caused by decision hesitation disguised as busy work.

How McStay Advisory Works

Most engagements begin with a focused, time-bounded decision session designed to clarify what actually matters, surface the real constraints, and force the trade-offs that progress requires. The aim is not perfect certainty but a decision that can be owned and acted on.

When execution or leadership behavior is the limiting factor, coaching is applied selectively for a defined period. Every engagement is practical, contained, and designed to leave leaders more self-sufficient than before. No open-ended discovery. No theoretical deliverables. No dependency.

McStay Advisory exists to help leaders confront ambiguity, accept unavoidable trade-offs, and move forward with clarity when the stakes are real. This is decision-focused advisory work for senior operators carrying real responsibility in environments where outcomes matter and decisions can't be deferred.

The work is low-volume and high-trust. The emphasis is always the same: clear thinking, responsible action, and progress without burnout.

Who is Sean McStay?

I've spent 20+ years in senior commercial leadership, most of it building and leading sales organizations across North America in the building products and manufacturing industry. I've sat on executive boards, led teams through market shifts, and made the kinds of decisions that don't come with a playbook or a safety net.

I built McStay Advisory because the best leaders I've worked with all had the same gap: they were capable, accountable, and carrying real weight, but they were making their hardest decisions alone. I know what that feels like because I've been that leader.

That same instinct led me to create McStay on What Matters, a podcast where I sit down with experienced leaders and talk about how they actually think through the hard calls.

If any of that resonates, I'd welcome a conversation.
